The Daily Anarcho-Stack: RetroWomen in Music.
First up: Tiffany on Vinyl; Tori Amos before she was famous; Evanescence Rarities before there was Twitter.
I have a lot of music. And most of features women in some way, shape, or form. I like women in music. Sue me. I cannot agree with most of what they have to say, but their music I shall cherish and treasure and will refuse to give up. So, with that being said, here are three albums I own that showcase women that I like.
TIFFANY: Hold an Old Friend’s Hand - Format; Vinyl.
I have no clue how I got this. Except I was in a mall. And she was playing. The rest is history. Vinyl is in near perfect condition. She has a voice that I long to hear in today’s music. Strong and slightly raspy. I am not a particular fan of Redheads. But, I suppose one can make an exception here.
TORI AMOS - Wedding Performance
My first Tori Amos Bootleg CD in 1994. I forgot how I acquired this Album but it was when Ebay and Paypal were *separate* entities. I was a Toriphile at this time. Yes; another Redhead. I am not attracted to Redheads. Honest. Have you seen her play two pianos at the same time? I have. Some of these songs date back to 1978. Beat that Y Kant Tori Read fans.
EVANESCENCE - Beauty in Darkness
This is a CD that I know how I acquired. Amazon. Before Twitter existed. I was nuts for Evanescence, having seen them live three times by 2007. She is a Brunette. Her voice, I feel like, is stronger than Tori or Tiffany. Oh, and I like Women in Rock and Metal more. Lots of Bootlegs and Rarities here. TBH, any music without Ben Moody in the band should not be named with the moniker “Evanescence.”
Tune in next week for another RetroWomen in Music. I have got plenty more.
